چکیده

We study a coupled system of two parabolic equations in one space dimension. This system is singular because of the presence of one term with the inverse of the gradient of the solution. Our system describes an approximate model of the dynamics of dislocation densities in a bounded channel submitted to an exterior applied stress. The system of equations is written on a bounded interval with Dirichlet conditions and requires a special attention to the boundary. The proof of existence and uniqueness is done under the use of a certain comparison principle on the gradient of the solution. AMS Classification: 35K50, 35K40, 35K55.

Dynamics of dislocation densities in a bounded channel. Part II: existence of weak solutions to a singular Hamilton-Jacobi/parabolic strongly coupled system

We study a strongly coupled system consisting of a parabolic equation and a singular Hamilton-Jacobi equation in one space dimension. This system describes the dynamics of dislocation densities in a material submitted to an exterior applied stress. Our system is a natural extension of that studied in [15] where the applied stress was set to be zero. The equations are written on a bounded interv...

Existence and Uniqueness for a Dislocation Model with Short-range Interactions and Varying Stress Field

In this article, we consider a coupled singular parabolic system, describing the dynamics of dislocation densities in a bounded domain. The model takes into consideration the short-range interactions between dislocations, which causes the singularity that appears under the form of dividing by a gradient term. We prove a long time existence and uniqueness under the assumption that the applied st...

Global existence of solutions to a singular parabolic/Hamilton-Jacobi coupled system with Dirichlet conditions

We study the existence of (distribution/viscosity) solutions of a singular parabolic/Hamilton-Jacobi coupled system. Our motivation stems from the study of the dynamics of dislocation densities in a crystal of finite size. The method of the proof consists in considering a parabolic regularization of the system, and then passing to the limit after obtaining some uniform bounds using in particula...

OPTIMAL NOZZLE SHAPES OF CO2-N2-H2O GASDYNAMIC LASERS

In an axisymmetric CO2-N2-H2O gas dynamic laser, let ? denote the intersection of the vertical plane of symmetry with the upper part of the (supersonic) nozzle. To obtain a maximal small signal gain, some authors have tested several families of curves for ?. To find the most general solution for ?, an application of Pontryagin’s principle led to the conjuncture that the optimal ? must consist o...

Cracked piezoelectric layer bounded between two orthotropic half-planes

This paper deals with the behavior of anti-plane shear crack in a piezoelectric layer bounded between two orthotropic half-planes within the framework of linear electroelasticity. The crack surfaces are assumed to be permeable or impermeable. The analysis is based on the stress fields caused by Volterra-type screw dislocation in the medium. Fourier transforms are used to reduce the dislocation ...
